1. Installing the GPT Sidebar App

- Use this link to access the app in the Zendesk marketplace.
- Click on the 'Install' button located on the right side.
- Select the Zendesk instance where you want to install the app.
- Follow the redirection to your Zendesk Admin space. Make sure you have admin rights.
- Here, you can rename the app, but by default, it's labeled as "GPT Sidebar". Decide if you'd like to enable role or group restrictions.
- Finally, hit the 'Install' button.
2. Accessing the App
- Navigate to your agent workspace. This can be done by clicking on the icon with four squares
at the top-right corner, and then choosing "Support".
- In the Support workspace, click the GPT Sidebar icon
on the left after the settings symbol.
Note: If you have numerous apps installed, it might be hidden under the three dots at the lower left part of your screen. Click on this icon to proceed.
3. Creating a Knots account
- On the Settings page, go to "Login" to create a new account or log in if you are already a Knots customer.
4. Creating a new prompt
To create a new prompt for the app that will appear as an option in the dropdown menu of the ticket editor, follow these steps:
- Name the prompt clearly. This name will show up in the dropdown menu in the GPT Sidebar.
- Write the text of the prompt, specifying its purpose and desired outcome. Be as detailed as possible for better results.
- Select the source for the prompt from the dropdown menu.

Optional: Show Default Prompts for Agents - Toggle this option to activate a predefined prompt, "Conversation Summary," for agent use.

After finalizing your settings, click Save Settings to store your new prompt.
- To create additional prompts, click the + New Prompt button at the bottom left.
- The module will take approximately one minute to activate. Once active, the GPT Sidebar will appear in the ticket’s sidebar.
5. Using the GPT Sidebar
Once the module is active, follow these steps to generate responses in your ticket:
- Navigate to the ticket where you want to use the app.
- Locate the GPT Sidebar in the right-hand sidebar of the ticket.
- Open the dropdown menu, select the desired prompt, and click Execute Prompt.
- Choose whether to insert the generated text as new content or append it to existing content within the ticket.
